To
complete the space & astronomy
unit, you will complete the core activities and may choose any of the
Space projects to accumulate additional final points.
Space Project Activities (up to) 60 pts total (54 pts
= an A for this section)
You may earn up to 80 points (20 extra credit points)
YOU CHOOSE what grade you want to earn.
25 point Projects:
DUE
Fri Oct 26 (2 can be done) (powerpoints are due on Tues Oct 30th)
Write a 2-page double
spaced 12 point paper or story about
1. Research a planet,
a moon, a star or a galaxy. Include illustrations. Use a min of 3 sources
2.
Could life exist on Jupiter's moon? Why or why not. Include 3 sources
to validate your theory
3.The
different names & origins
of the full moons.(do a paper & pwrpt with pictures for 50 pts)
4.
Research NASA's NEAR
(Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous) project (ppr+ppt w/ pictures= 40 pts)
5. Research the Hubble
Space Telescope. What has been learned from its use?Use 3 sources min
6. create a Planetary
Travel brochure (be sure to follow specific details)
7. Create a visually
appealing written report PLUS a pwrpt on the current mission to Mars/
Mars rovers
(ppr+ppt w/ pictures= 40 pts)
8. Write a 2 page paper about the NASA
shuttle program. This can include where the project is headed, a history of
the program, how astronauts are selected and trained, OR careers in space
(ppr+ppt w/ pictures=
40 pts)
40 point projects:
Due Mon: Oct 29th (you may write 2 books for 60 pts)
Write/make a children's book (example: galaxies, the Sun, the
stars, etc)
Must be 10 pgs, colorful, have a plot
DUE Wed Haloween: (you may do
2 for 60 pts possible)
1.
Create a board game using a space or astronomy topic as the overall
theme.
Must include
the board, board pieces, instructions, etc.
We will play it on Halloween & Thur/Friday
of that week!!

Create
a space webquest that
can be posted on MrsG's web page
How
you will be assessed
EVERYTHING
must be typed!!!
